SIDELIGHTS:
George J. Padanilam told CA: "I was born in, grew up, and had my medical education in India. I wanted to get the best education I could get and decided to do my surgical training in the United States.
"I was intrigued by the inability of people to ‘live happily ever after’ after achieving, through years and years of hard work, the goal they set. I have encountered people from many walks of life, from many different countries. None of them have found the ultimate happiness they seek. As Abraham Maslow said, ‘People live a life of quiet desperation.’
"Problems do proliferate in all fields of human endeavor. Ingenious solutions to the problem at hand usually beget more problems, challenging our resourcefulness. In spite of persistent effort, we have not solved any problems successfully. Organized medicine has not eliminated ill health; financial ingenuity has not eliminated poverty; the educational system has not removed prejudice, hatred, or ignorance; and organized religion has not abolished immoral behavior in the world.
"The Fig Leaf Conspiracy uncovers the one and only problem that manifests itself as many and different. It discusses in detail how we systematically and successfully cover up the real problem to avoid meaningful solution. The book exposes this root problem tormenting the human kind in a uniquely original way. To a world replete with skepticism and cynicism, this book introduces ‘sanity’ in a logical and scientific way."
