SIDELIGHTS: Angela Knight is a pseudonym for an author who began writing as a little girl and developed a fondness for romance novels, which she now writes. Most of her romances fall into the subgenre of erotica, while also including an element of science fiction, the supernatural, or the mythic. As noted by Knight on her home page, "If you find your teenaged daughter reading one of my books—take it away from her! My work is intended for adults who like their romances steamy and explicit."
In Knight's first full-length novel, Jane's Warlord, the author tells the story of a warlord named Baran Arvid and his wolf, Freika, a genetically engineered creature. The two have traveled back in time to save the life of Jane Colby, a reporter who is investigating a particu-larly unsavory murder in her town and is unknowingly marked for death by time-traveling serial killer Kalag Druss. Baran's mission soon turns from strictly business to the very personal as he and Jane fall in love. Writing for the AllReaders.com, Harriet Klausner called the book "an exhilarating science fiction romance" and added that "fans will appreciate this wonderful tale that showcases a new writing talent heading for the stars." Kristin Ramsdell, writing in Library Journal, noted that Jane's Warlord is a "violent, action-packed, but occasionally humorous romance with an sf touch," and Booklist critic Nina C. Davis complimented Knight for creating a fictional "world [that] is believable" and a plot that is "fast paced."
Knight also has written numerous novellas and short stories, including the novella Seduction's Gift for the collection Hot Blooded. This story focuses on a group of heroes called Magi—typically witches and vampires—who are alive during King Arthur's time and are dedicated to protecting the world from evil. In Knight's story, Lord Lancelot, who serves as an assassin and is known as an accomplished seducer, is the hero of the tale. A Publishers Weekly contributor called Knight's contribution the "most inventive of the four" novellas in the book. Knight also wrote Galahad for the collection Bite, in which Sir Galahad, a good vampire, and his fellow heroes save the world from a group of evil vampires. A Publishers Weekly contributor called this novella one of "the collection's best offerings."
Knight's novella Wake Me, which appeared in Secrets Volume 11, is a story of a knight captured in a painting; he can only be freed by the love of an admirer. Of this collection, Harriet Klausner observed in MBR Bookwatch that it "contains four hot tales starring wonderful protagonists and plenty of romance."
