SIDELIGHTS:

A former television journalist, Jeannine Kadow is now a commercial photographer and novelist. Burnout is the author's third novel and her first in the "Lacie Wagner" thriller series. The reader is introduced to Lacie as a young anchorwoman and the mother of a fourteen-year-old teenager who is kidnapped. After receiving a videotape of her daughter, Skyla, Lacie realizes that the kidnapper has appeared previously in her nightmares. She then goes out to look for him with the help of FBI Special Agent Jack Stein. Library Journal critic Jo Ann Vicarel predicted that "this fast-paced thriller is sure to please readers who like strong female characters fighting against the odds." A Publishers Weekly contributor had similar praise: "The story is dramatic, and … readers will be drawn in by some ingenious twists."

Dead Tide: A Novel of Suspense finds Lacie vacationing on Nantucket when she comes across a horribly burned corpse. Drawn to the case, Lacie discovers an association between the "Jane Doe" and a secret special ops group known only to a few in government. Before long, Lacie has joined forces with retired investigator Nick St. James to help her solve the case, which ends up involving torture and numerous other missing women. A Kirkus Reviews contributor referred to Dead Tide as a "fleet, unnerving thriller." Another Publishers Weekly critic shuddered at the novel's "disturbing physiological effects."
