SIDELIGHTS: Lorna M. Jackson told CA: "In early writing, my work was influenced by the music I was playing and the life I was leading traveling through British Columbia as a saloon singer. More recently, in fiction and nonfiction, I continue to explore the generative and creative aftermath of grief and the roles of art, sport, and landscape in how we endure often difficult lives. I live in Metchosin, British Columbia, a small rural community. We raise sheep and chickens and garden well enough to fill our freezer. This life, too—its strong nouns and active verbs—feeds my writing."
