SIDELIGHTS: Jessica Hundley is a freelance author and journalist who has written for a number of publications. After completing her creative writing degree, Hundley came up with the idea to start her own magazine while on a cross-country trip. With assistance from Andy Hunter, the first issue of Mommy and I Are One was published two years later. The magazine covered alternative music, art, and independent film, subjects addressed throughout most of her writings.
In Grievous Angel: An Intimate Biography of Gram Parsons, Hundley collaborated with Polly Parsons, daughter of the book's subject, to illustrate the short life of one of the first musicians to successfully mix country and rock music. A reviewer for Publishers Weekly wrote that Grievous Angel is a "fluffy, interview-packed biography" that does not "provide more than a superficial portrait." Writing in Library Journal, however, James E. Perone believed that Hundley discusses her subject "with sensitivity and attention to detail." Overall, he praised the authors for telling "Parsons's tragic story … very well."
