Gosse told CA: "I'm a Newfoundlander born in Kingston, Jamaica, where I lived with my family for the first five years of my life until we moved back to St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, where I grew up. I seem to be most comfortable living on islands. My two children were born in Montreal, where I presently live.

"I was a dancer, singer, and actor before I became a writer. I've kept a journal since I was twenty-six, and journal-writing is an important part of my daily routine. My first novel, Liar, about a woman who married a pathological liar, illustrates the danger of living a secret life and the joyful release of truthful writing. My second novel, Dani Hann, about an actor trying to make it in Toronto, shows how a writer transforms daily life into a comedy routine and how friendship is the best medicine for life."
