Born August 15, 1879, in Hayesville, OH; died January 31, 1951, in Madison, NJ; son of Frank and Addie L. (Arnold) Diffendorfer; married Edna Saylor, 1903. Education: Ohio Wesleyan University, B.A., 1902; Drew University, B.D., 1907; Union Theological Seminary, further graduate study.

CAREER:

Missionary Educational Movement of the United States and Canada, secretary, 1904-16; Methodist Church, began as education secretary for Board of Missions and Home Extension, 1904, assistant secretary for Centenary Commission, corresponding secretary for Board of Missions, 1924-39, executive secretary of Board of Foreign Missions, 1939-51. Interchurch World Movement, affiliate, 1919-20; Federal Council of Churches, affiliate.
