See index for CA sketch: Born March 26, 1945, in NY; died of prostate cancer, July 29, 2007, in Santa Monica, CA. Financial journalist, columnist, and publisher of crossword puzzles. Currier began his career with the Associated Press news syndicate as a general news reporter for the Kansas City bureau in 1970. He moved to the New York, New York, office in 1973, where his interests soon turned to business news and Wall Street. He reported on the stock market, investments, mutual funds, and personal finance for many years. He was the author of several popular columns, including "Ticker Talk," "Weekly Wall Street," and "On the Money." In 1999 Currier became a columnist for the Bloomberg News; his last column was published one month before his death. His financial writings were published in books such as Investor's Encyclopedia (1985), 15 Minute Investor: Prosperity and Peace of Mind for the Price of a Newspaper (1986), and No Cost/Low Cost Investing (1987). Currier was also an aficionado of crossword puzzles; he created hundreds of "Sunday-Size" puzzles for the Associated Press, beginning in 1979. Some of these were collected in the books Associated Press Sunday Crossword Book (1983) and Scads of Crosswords: 300 Challenging Sunday-Size Puzzles from the Associated Press (2005).
