SIDELIGHTS:
Flora Simmons Clancy is a scholar of the art and architecture of the Mayan civilization of Mexico and Central America. Clancy has written about the sculptures and construction of Mayan pyramids and other remaining artistic treasures of that ancient civilization. To quote K. A. Dixon in a Choice review of Sculpture in the Ancient Maya Plaza: The Early Classic Period, Clancy has made "an important addition to Maya studies" through her writings and presentations. In an American Antiquity review of Vision and Revision in Maya Studies, Aleksandar Bŏković called the book a "very useful summary of the work in the last decade, but also a book that can pose questions for future research." Bŏković concluded that the work "is without any doubt the best book on Maya studies."
