SIDELIGHTS:
Barbara Jo Brothers told CA:"I began to write professionally because reading assignments in graduate school were so boring. I decided I would go back and rewrite them as an act of mercy to future students. Writing important concepts in mental health needs to be done in a way that makes the information available to the lay public, but also extends beyond mere ‘pop psychology.’ Then later I saw a serious need to promote and explicate the work of Virginia Satir, the mother of family therapy. I spent time studying with Jean Houston and decided her work would be augmented if she were introduced to the work of Virginia Satir. I wrote many articles and edited some books for that reason."
