PERSONAL: Born June 3, 1867, in Dunnsville, VA; died February 23, 1934, in Baltimore, MD; son of Peter (a minister) and Rebecca Etta (Sizer) Ainslie; married Mary Elizabeth Weisel, 1925. Education: Attended Transylvania College, 1886-89.
CAREER: Minister of Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); worked as supply minister at a Christian church in Newport News, VA, 1889-91; Calhoun Street Christian Church (later Christian Temple), Baltimore, MD, pastor, 1891-1933. International Convention of Christian Churches, president, 1910; Council on Christian Union of the Disciples of Christ (also known as Association for the Promotion of Christian Unity and Council on Christian Unity), founder and president; Christian Unity League for Equality and Brotherhood, member, beginning 1927; Church Peace Union, member of board of trustees; conference organizer and participant in the United States and abroad; lecturer at educational institutions. Local advocate for religious, racial, and ethnic unity; founder of nondenominational club for working girls, 1899.
