Zipp, Friedrich

Zipp, Friedrich, German composer, organist, and pedagogue; b. Frankfurt am Main, June 20, 1914. He studied at the Hoch Cons, in Frankfurt am Main (1933-34) and in Berlin at the Univ. and at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik, where his composition teacher was Knab. In 1947 he became a teacher and in 1962 a prof, at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Frankfurt am Main; also was active as an organist. He composed Musik for Orch. (1936), Sinfonietta for Youth Orch. (1958), Kirchensuite for String Orch. (1962), String Quartet (1943), Au clair de la lune for Oboe and Piano (1963), and numerous choral pieces and songs. He publ. Vom Wesen der Musik (Heidelberg, 1974).
