Zecchi, Adone
Zecchi, Adone, Italian composer and conductor; b. Bologna, July 23, 1904. He studied composition with Franco Aliano at the Liceo Musicale in Bologna, graduating in 1926. In 1927 he founded the choral group Corale Euridice, which he led until 1943. In 1930 he founded the Orch. Bolognese de Camera. In 1942 he was appointed to the faculty of the Bologna Cons.; he became its director in 1961. In his compositions he follows the path of Italian neo-Classicism, but applies dodecaphonic formulas in some of his music. He publ. a number of manuals on choral conducting, including the reference work II coro nella storia e dizionario dei nomi e dei termini (Bologna, 1960) and II direttore di coro (Milan, 1965). In collaboration with R. Allorto, he brought out Educazione musicale (Milan, 1962); Canti natalizi di altri paesi (Milan, 1965); Canti natalizi italiani (Milan, 1965); Canti della vecchia America(Milan, 1966); and mondo della musica (Milan, 1969).
