Workman, William
Workman, William, American baritone; b. Val-dosta, Ga., Feb. 4,1940. He studied with Martial Singher at the Curtis Inst. of Music in Philadelphia and at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Calif.; then went to Europe and took voice lessons with Hedwig Schilling in Hamburg. He made his operatic debut with the Hamburg State Opera in 1965. In 1972 he became a member of the Frankfurt am Main Opera; also made guest appearances in Stuttgart, Strasbourg, Paris, and Vienna. In 1984 he appeared at London’s Covent Garden.
