Vetter, Michael

Vetter, Michael, German composer and performer; b. Obertsdorf, Allgau, Sept. 18,1943. He studied philosophy and theology (1964-69), then became known as a recorder player, specializing in early and contemporary works. He was associated with Stock-hausen’s circle, and performed in Alphabet pour Liège (1972). His notateci compositions are almost exclusively graphic. His recordings of the 1980s include Overtones, Tambura Preludes,and Pro-Vocationes,all scored for voice and tambura; the voice uses a multiphonic technique similar to Buddhist chant, supported by the dense overtones of the tambura in an improvisational structure. He publ. a textbook, II flauto dolce e acerbo (Celle, 1964-69).
