Verdonck, Cornells
Verdonck, Cornells, Flemish composer; b. Turn-hout, 1563; d. Antwerp, July 5,1625. He was a chorister in the court chapel of Philip II in Madrid before studying with Séverin Cornet in Antwerp. After singing in the royal chapel in Madrid (1584-98), he pursued his career in his homeland. He was a skilled composer of chansons and madrigals. He also wrote some sacred music, including a Magnificat and motets.
