Van Doorslaer, Georges, Belgian musicologist; b. Mechelen, Sept. 27, 1864; d. there, Jan. 16, 1940. He was a physician by profession, but studied music as an avocation. He wrote the valuable treatises Kerry Bredemers, 1472-1522 (Antwerp, 1915), De Toonkunstenaars der familie Vredeman (Antwerp, 1920), La Vie et les oeuvres de Philippe de Monte (Brussels, 1921), and Rinaldo del Mel (Antwerp, 1922), and also ed. eight vols, in the collected edition of works by Philippe de Monte.
