Van der Velden, Renier

Van der Velden, Renier, Belgian composer; b. Antwerp, Jan. 14, 1910; d. there, Jan. 19, 1993. He received training from Jan Broeckx, Karel Candael, and Joseph Jongen in Brussels. In 1945 he was became program director of the French services of the Belgian Radio in Antwerp. In 1970 he was made a member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Arts, Letters, and Sciences.
