Ugarte, Floro M(anuel)
Ugarte, Floro M(anuel), Argentine composer and teacher; b. Buenos Aires, Sept. 15, 1884; d. there, June 11, 1975. He studied in Buenos Aires, and at the Paris Cons, under Pessard, Lavignac, and Fourdrain, with whom he collaborated in writing the ballet Sigolene. He returned to Argentina in 1913, and in 1924 became a prof. at the National Cons, in Buenos Aires. He was general director of the Teatro Colón, founder-president of the National Music Soc, prof, at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes at La Plata Univ., and director of the Buenos Aires Municipal Cons.
