Titus, Hiram
Titus, Hiram, American pianist and composer; b. Minneapolis, Jan. 28, 1947. He studied with Emil Dananberg (piano) and Richard Hoffman (composition) at Oberlin (Ohio) Coll. (B.A., 1958), with Guy Duckworth (piano) and Dominick Argento (composition) (1957-63), and with Walter Hartley in Interlochen, Mich, (summers, 1963-64). In addition to concert and stage works, he composed a number of scores for television and theater productions, winning DramaLogue awards for music (1979, 1980). Among his compositions are Bach Abashed for Chamber Ensemble (1968), the opera Rosina (Minneapolis, 1980), Guitar Concerto (1984), and The Sand Hills, oratorio for Soloists, Men’s Chorus, Tape, and Ensemble (Los Angeles, 1987).
