Tisné, Antoine
Tisné, Antoine, French composer; b. Lourdes, Nov. 29, 1932; d. Paris, Feb. 14, 1998. He studied at the Paris Cons. with Hugon, N. Gallon, Dufourcq, Milhaud, and Rivier, taking premiers prix in harmony, counterpoint, fugue, and composition. In 1962 he won the 2nd Grand Prix de Rome and the Lili Boulanger Prize. From 1967 to 1992 he served as an inspector of music for the French Ministry of Culture. He also was a prof, of composition and orchestration at the Univ. of Paris. In 1992 he became inspector of music for the municipal conservatoires of the City of Paris. Among his honors were the Grand Prix musical of the City of Paris (1979) and the prize for composers of the Soc. of Authors, Composers, and Editors of Music (1988). In his music, Tisné adopted various contemporary techniques.
