Thévenard, Gabriel-Vincent
Thévenard, Gabriel-Vincent, esteemed French singer; b. Orléans or Paris, Aug. 10, 1669; d. Paris, Aug. 24, 1741. He settled in Paris in 1690. Following training from Destouches, he was a principal singer with the Académie Royale de Musique from 1698 until 1729. He created roles in many operas, including those by Destouches, Campra, Marais, and Desmarets.
