Sunnegårdh, Thomas

Sunnegårdh, Thomas, Swedish tenor; b. Stockholm, July 11, 1949. He received vocal instruction in Stockholm. After appearing with the Swedish National Touring Opera, he made his debut as Albert Herring in 1982 at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, where he subsequently sang such roles as Tamino, Fra Diavolo, Ferrando, Lohengrin, and Taverner. In 1983 he created the title role in Nörgard’s Siddharta in Stockholm. He appeared as Macduff at the Bregenz Festival in 1988, and in 1990 as Lohengrin in Moscow and Stuttgart. In 1991 he made his debut at London’s Covent Garden as Erik. He sang Lohengrin in Barcelona in 1992, and in Düsseldorf in 1994. In 1993 he portrayed Walther von Stolzing at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In 1996 he was engaged as Paul in Korngold’s Die tote Stadt in Stockholm.
