Shekhter, Boris (Semyonovich)

Shekhter, Boris (Semyonovich) , Russian composer and teacher; b. Odessa, Jan. 20, 1900; d. Moscow, Dec. 16, 1961. After studies at the Odessa Cons. (graduated, 1922), he entered the Moscow Cons., studying composition with Vasilenko and Miaskovsky (graduated, 1929). In 1940 he became a prof. at the Ashkhabad Cons.
