Ruggi, Francesco , Italian composer; b. Naples, Oct. 21, 1767; d. there, Jan. 23, 1845. He studied at the Cons. di S. Loreto in Naples under Fenaroli, and became a prof. of composition at the Cons. di San Pietro a Majella. He wrote the operas L’ombra di Nino (Naples, 1795), La Guerra aperta (Naples, 1796), and Soft tripponi (Milan, 1804), and much sacred music.
