Ribera (y Tarragó), Julián , Spanish musicologist; b. Carcagente, near Valencia, Sept. 19, 1858; d. there, May 2, 1934. He was educated at the Univs. of Valencia and Madrid (Ph.D.), and from 1887 taught Arabic at the Univ. of Saragossa and from 1905 Arabian-Spanish literature at the Univ. of Madrid. He brought out the ed. La música andaluza medieval en las canciones de trovadores, troveros y minnesinger (3 vols., Madrid, 1923–25).
