Raitio, Pentti

Raitio, Pentti , Finnish composer and pedagogue; b. Pieksämäki, June 4, 1930. He studied composition with Kokkonen (1961–63) and Bergman (1963–66) at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, receiving his diploma in 1966. He then was director of the Hyvinkää School of Music (from 1967). He was chairman of the Lahti Organ Festival (1981–85) and of the Assn. of Finnish Music Schools (from 1967).
