Rabinof, Benno , esteemed American violinist; b. N.Y., Oct. 11, 1908; d. Brevard, N.C., July 2, 1975. He studied privately with Küzdö, Kneisel, and Auer. He made his debut on Nov. 18, 1927, playing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with members of the N.Y. Phil., conducted by Auer. In 1930 he played Glazunov’s Violin Concerto, with Glazunov himself leading the Boston Sym. Orch. as guest conductor. With his wife, the pianist Sylvia Smith-Rabinof, he traveled extensively in Europe and America.
