Puig-Roget, Henriette

Puig-Roget, Henriette , French organist, pianist, teacher, and composer; b. Bastia, Jan 9, 1910; d. Paris, Nov. 24, 1992. She studied with Philipp (piano), Dupré (organ), J. Gallon (harmony), Tournemire (chamber music), Emmanuel (music history), and Büsser (composition) at the Paris Cons., winning premiers prix in 1926 and 1930. In 1933 she won the Premier 2nd Prix de Rome. From 1934 to 1979 she was organist at l’Oratoire du Louvre in Paris. She also pursued an active career as a pianist until 1975. She was “chef de chant” at the Paris Opéra (1937–40; 1946–57) and then was prof. of piano accompaniment and score reading at the Paris Cons. (1957–79). She wrote many piano books for children.
