Playford, Henry

Playford, Henry , English music publisher, son of John Playford ; b. London, May 5, 1657; d. there, c. 1707. He worked with his father before setting up a business of his own. His most important publications were Wit and Mirth, a collection of Tom D’Urfey’s songs (1699, 1700), and the 2nd book of Purcell’s Orpheus Britanniens (1702).
