Pernet, André

Pernet, André French bass; b. Rambervillers, Jan. 6, 1894; d. Paris, June 23, 1966. He studied at the Paris Cons, with Gresse. He made his operatic debut in 1921 in Nice, and was a principal member of the Paris Opéra (1928^5); appeared there again in 1948, and also sang at the Paris Opéra-Comique (1931–48). His most notable roles included Don Giovanni, Boris Godunov, and Mé-phistophélès, but he also sang in many contemporary operas.
