Palau Boix, Manuel
Palau Boix, Manuel, Spanish conductor, teacher, and composer; b. Alfara de Patriarca, Jan. 4, 1893; d. Valencia, Feb. 18, 1967. He studied first at the Valencia Cons., and later in Paris, where he took lessons from Koechlin and Ravel. Returning to Valencia, he established himself as a teacher, conductor, and composer. Most of his thematic material is inspired by Catalan folk songs; his instrumental music usually bears programmatic content; his technique of composition follows the French impressionist procedures.
