Paisible, James

Paisible, James, French-born English recorder player, oboist, and composer; b. place and date unknown; d. London, Aug.?, 1721. He was in England by 1674 where he became active in court circles. In 1685 he was officially named a member of the King’s Musick. After serving as an instrumentalist in James IFs private chapel, he was one of the musicians in the service of Prince George. He also played in the band at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. His works included music for the stage, sonatas, and songs.
