Pailliard, Jean-François
Pailliard, Jean-François, noted French conductor; b. Vitry-le-François, April 12, 1928. He received his musical training at the Paris Cons., and later took courses in conducting with Markevitch at the Salzburg Mozarteum. In 1953 he founded the Jean-Marie Leclair Instrumental Ensemble, which became the Jean-François Pailliard Chamber Orch. in 1959, with which he toured widely; also appeared extensively as a guest conductor. He ed. the series Archives de la Musique Instrumentale, and pubi, the study La musique française classique (Paris, I960).
