Óriada, Seán
Óriada, Seán, Irish composer; b. Cork, Aug. 1, 1931; d. London, Oct. 3, 1971. He was a pupil of Fleischmann at Univ. Coll., Cork (B.Mus., 1952). After serving as asst. music director of Radio Eireann (1954–55), he was music director of Dublin’s Abbey Theatre (1955–62) and a teacher at his alma mater (from 1963). He wrote a series of works entitled Nomos, the most ambitious being No. 2 for Baritone, Chorus, and Orch. (1963). Among his other works were stage music, orch. pieces, and chamber music.
