O'Neill, Norman (b London, 1875; d London, 1934). Eng. composer and conductor. Treasurer, Royal Phil. Soc. 1918–34. Teacher of harmony and comp., RAM 1924–34. Mus. dir. Haymarket Th. 1908–19, 1920–34, composing incidental mus. for Maeterlinck's The Blue Bird (1909) and Barrie's Mary Rose (1920). Also wrote orch. works and chamber mus. (See also Frankfurt Group.)
