Oncina, Juan
Oncina, Juan, Spanish tenor; b. Barcelona, April 15, 1925. He was a student in Or an, Algeria, and of Mercedes Caspir in Barcelona. In 1946 he made his Italian operatic debut as Count Almaviva in Bologna, and subsequently appeared with leading Italian opera houses. From 1952 to 1961 he also sang at the Glynde-bourne Festivals. While he was best known for his roles in operas by Mozart, Rossini, and Donizetti, he also appeared in operas by Verdi and Puccini.
