Noda, Ken

Noda, Ken, American pianist and composer; b. N.Y., Oct. 5, 1962. He studied piano with Adele Marcus at the Juilliard School in N.Y., and also had lessons in composition with Sylvia Rabinof and Thomas Pasatieri. In 1977 he made his professional debut as a soloist with the Minnesota Orch. in Minneapolis, followed by his London debut as soloist with the English Chamber Orch. in 1979. After further studies with Barenboim in Paris (1979–83), he made appearances on both sides of the Atlantic until 1990. In 1991 he became musical assistant to the artistic director, artistic administration, at the Metropolitan Opera in N.Y. He again appeared in public as a pianist in 1997. Among his works were several operas, song cycles, and piano pieces.
