Nicholson, George (Thomas Frederick)

Nicholson, George (Thomas Frederick), English pianist, teacher, and composer; b. Great Lumley, Sept. 24, 1949. He was educated at the Univ. of York (B.A. in English and music, 1971; Ph.D. in composition, 1979), his mentors in music being Bernard Rands and David Blake. He then was active as a teacher and performer; from 1988 he served as lecturer in music and director of composition at the Univ. of Keele.
