Nasolini, Sebastiano

Nasolini, Sebastiano, Italian composer; b. Piacenza, c. 1768; d. probably in Naples, c. 1816. He most likely studied at the ducal chapel in Venice. He was maestro al cembalo at the S. Pietro theater in Trieste (1787–90), and also maestro di cappella at the Cathedral of S. Giusto there (1788–90); then was mainly active in Venice as a composer for the theater. He was a highly successful composer of popular stage works; among his extant operas are La morte di Semiramide (Padua, Oct. 1790), La morte di Cleopatra (Vicenza, June 22, 1791), Merope (Venice, Jan. 21, 1796), II Medico di Lucca (Venice, 1797), Gli umori contrarii (Venice, June 1798), II trionfo di delia (Milan, Dec. 26, 1798), and Achille (Modena, June 23, 1806). He also composed pasticcios, oratorios, and cantatas.
