Murio-Celli, Adelina
Murio-Celli, Adelina, Italian soprano, teacher, and composer; b. Breslau, 1836; d. N.Y., April 10, 1900. She studied with Louis Ponchard, G. Bordogni, and G. Roger at the Paris Cons. After appearances in major European opera houses, she married E. Ravin d’Elpeux, the French vice-consul to the U.S., in 1867 and retired from the operatic stage. Settling in N.Y., she was active as a voice teacher, numbering Eleanora de Cisneros and Emma Juch among her outstanding pupils. She composed some instrumental works and vocal pieces, the best known of which was the song The Soldier’s Bride.
