Mihalovich, Edmund von (actually, Ödön Péter József de)
Mihalovich, Edmund von (actually, Ödön Péter József de), Hungarian composer; b. Fericsancze, Sept. 13, 1842; d. Budapest, April 22, 1929. He studied with Mosonyi in Pest and with Hauptmann in Leipzig, and also took lessons with Peter Cornelius in Munich. From 1887 to 1919 he taught at the Academy of Music in Budapest. Although he remained wholly committed to the German school of composition throughout his life, he did support the efforts of Bartók, Kodály, and Weiner in their search for a distinct national school.
