Mascitti, Michele
Mascitti, Michele, Italian-born French composer; b. S. Maria, near Naples, 1663 or 1664; d. Paris, April 24, 1760. He was a pupil of his uncle, a violinist in the Naples royal chapel. After travels throughout Europe, he settled in Paris in 1704 and became a naturalized French subject in 1739. He was in the service of the Duke of Orléans. He publ. about 100 violin sonatas (Paris, 1704–38) and other works.
