Manfredini, Francesco Onofrio
Manfredini, Francesco Onofrio, Italian violinist and composer, father of Vincenzo Manfredini; b. Pistoia (baptized), June 22, 1684; d. there, Oct. 6, 1762. He studied violin with Torelli and counterpoint with Perti in Bologna, then went to Ferrara (e. 1699), where he was made 1st violinist at the Church of the Holy Spirit. He then entered the orch. of S. Petronio in Bologna (1704), and also became a member of the Accademia Filarmonica in that city. He subsequently was maestro di cappella at St. Philip’s Cathedral in Pistoia (1727–62).
