Makedonski, Kiril, Macedonian composer; b. Bitol, Jan. 19, 1925; d. Skopje, June 2, 1984. After completing his academic schooling in Skopje, he studied with Krso Odak at the Zagreb Academy of Music; later continued his composition studies with Brkanovic in Sarajevo, and in Ljubljana with Škerjanc. He was the composer of the first national Macedonian opera, Goce (Skopje, May 24, 1954). His second opera was Tsar Samuil (Skopje, Nov. 5, 1968). He also wrote 4 syms., chamber music, and a number of choruses. His idiom follows the fundamental vocal and harmonic usages of the Russian national school.
