Maier, Guy
>Maier, Guy, American pianist and teacher; b. Buffalo, Aug. 15, 1891; d. Santa Monica, Calif., Sept. 24, 1956. He studied at the New England Cons, of Music in Boston (graduated, 1913) and with Schnabel in Berlin (1913–14). He made his U.S. debut in Boston (1914); in addition to solo appearances, he also toured as a duo-pianist with Lee Pattison (1916–31). He taught at the Univ. of Mich. (1924–31), the Juilliard School of Music in N.Y. (1935–42), and the Univ. of Calif, at Los Angeles (1946–56).
