Lvov, Alexey (Fyodorovich) (b Reval, 1798; d nr. Kovno, 1870). Russ. composer, conductor, and violinist. In 1837 succeeded father as dir. of St Petersburg court choir, remaining there until 1861. Played his own vn. conc. at Leipzig, 1840. Led str. qt. Wrote 3 operas, vn. conc., 24 caprices, church mus., and Imperial nat. anthem, God Save the Tsar (1833), quoted by Tchaikovsky in 1812 Overture.
