Lukács, Miklós

Lukács, Miklós, Hungarian conductor; b. Gyula, Feb. 4,1905; d. Budapest, Nov. 1,1986. He took courses with A. Schnabel and Hindemith at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik. He conducted in various German theaters (1930–43), then at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest (1943–78), where he also served as its director (1944; 1966–78).
