Luboff, Norman, American conductor, composer, and arranger; b. Chicago, May 14,1917; d. Bynum, N.C., Sept. 22, 1987. He received his training in Chicago, where he attended the Univ., Central Coll., and American Cons, of Music, in the class of Leo Sowerby. After graduation, he was active as a singer and arranger for radio; then went to Hollywood as an arranger for films and television. He founded the Norman Luboff Choir in 1963, and subsequently conducted it on numerous tours, maintaining a vast repertoire of works ranging from classical to popular genres. As a composer, he devoted himself mainly to choral music.
