Lübeck, Johann Heinrich
Lübeck, Johann Heinrich, Dutch violinist, conductor, and composer, father of Ernst Lübeck and Louis Lübeck; b. Alphen, Feb. 11, 1799; d. The Hague, Feb. 7, 1865. He was a Prussian regimental musician (1813–15). He studied music in Potsdam, then a player in theater orchs. in Riga and Stettin. In 1823 he settled in the Netherlands, giving violin concerts. From 1827 until his death he was director of The Hague Cons. He was also conductor of the “Diligentia” concerts there, and in 1829, became court conductor.
